Code of Conduct

The Canadian Association for Girls In Science (CAGIS) Code of Conduct applies to all adult members of our community, including but not limited to staff, volunteers, and STEM experts who participate in our programming.  By accepting any role with CAGIS, you are agreeing to follow this Code of Conduct.

• I will comply with CAGIS policies and procedures.  
• I will ensure that my personal conduct, whether in person or online, upholds the reputation and integrity of CAGIS, and is in keeping with CAGIS’ mission and values. I will act as a role model, treat others with fairness, honour, dignity, and respect, and will work cooperatively, courteously, and professionally. 
• I understand that equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility are paramount to CAGIS’ work and will act in accordance with these values and principles.  I will be respectful of and celebrate people’s identities, without question. I will not  discriminate against anyone based on their age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender expression, disability, race, culture, or other elements of identity.  I commit to supporting an inclusive and equitable environment to ensure that individuals within our community feel safe, welcomed, and celebrated.
• I will report any incidents of harassment, discrimination, or bullying to CAGIS National. 
• I will prioritize the safety of our community at all times and will be attentive in monitoring risk to protect the safety of youth and adult members of our community.
• I will be vigilant in protecting our youth and wider community from physical, emotional, verbal, or sexual abuse.  I will immediately report any concerns for the welfare of youth to the appropriate authorities and to CAGIS National.
• I will immediately inform CAGIS National if I am under criminal investigation or if I am the subject of any allegation that could impact my ability to participate in CAGIS. 
• I will maintain and respect the privacy and confidentiality of the personal information of members of our community.
• I will maintain the confidentiality of information I have learned about CAGIS within the course of my duties that is not available to the public. 
• I will maintain CAGIS’ reputation as a trusted source of information by ensuring accuracy and clarity in my STEM communication.
• I will report any breaches of this Code of Conduct to CAGIS National.
