STEM Role model Whitney Surgenor

Civil engineer Whitney Surgenor will be joining CAGIS at Home for our live Paper Bridge Challenge and follow up video!

Whitney Surgenor is a Civil Engineer at Ainley Graham & Associates Limited (Ainley Group).  She attended Acadia University and Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. Prior to joining Ainley Group, she worked as a structural engineering summer student at Fulcrum Engineering in Alberta and as a research assistant at the BRE Center for Innovative Construction Material (BRE CICM) at the University of Bath in England, where she was involved in projects including hemp-lime construction, bamboo reinforced concrete, and straw bale module home (BaleHaus).

Her role at Ainley Group includes completing engineering and technical tasks on a variety of highway, drainage, and land development projects.  Her main focus is with highway design projects which involved a diverse team of managers, engineers, and technical staff to complete all aspects of the project including: highway, drainage, environmental, electrical, pavement, foundations, traffic, and bridge design.

She is also an elite road cyclist for a Canadian Cycling Trade Team based out of Hamilton Ontario.
