Archaeology at Western

Welcome to the wonderful world of archaeology! Archaeology is the study of past cultures. Archaeologists study past cultures in many different ways. Sometimes they excavate (dig up) artifacts (old objects like pots, jewellery, weapons, etc., from many years ago) to learn how people lived. If you have been to museums you will have seen many old artifacts found by archaeologists.

Join us a for an afternoon of archaeology. You will learn methods like excavating, site mapping, and artifact classification. You’ll have a chance to work with real artifacts excavated in Southern Ontario and hear from some of the archaeologists studying at Western University.
