UHN STEM Pathways: Challenging Environment Assessment Laboratory (CEAL)
The Challenging Environment Assessment Laboratory (CEAL) is an expansive indoor research facility located at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, commonly known as Toronto Rehab. Visitors to CEAL can get up close and personal with a wide range of simulators that are used to assess various activities of daily living and influence things such as the winter boots we wear, the cars we drive, and the streets we walk. Be it an indoor car that uses the same technology as NASA to simulate driving conditions, a cold chamber that creates slippery winter conditions, or a virtual reality chamber that mimics the busy streets of Toronto, visitors will see how UHN scientists are studying day-to-day activities and working to help people living longer and healthier lives.
